Places To Travel

November 4th, 2010 — 8:34am

Travelling is one of my favourite hobbies. It’s an extremely expensive hobby – then again, most hobbies seem to be – but it’s something I love to do so I go whenever I can. Most of my previous trips have been in Europe but there are a lot of places I want to go which are more exotic than that. Here are a few places I’d love to visit and why.

The place I’d love to go the most is New Zealand. They speak English there so you don’t have to worry about the language barrier, which is a bonus, but the countryside looks amazing. I’m a big Lord of the Rings fan so it would be fun to go and visit some of the locations in the film too. I’ve heard that they are going to be filming the two Hobbit films in New Zealand now too so that will provide a number of new places to visit.

While I’m there, Australia would be a good place to go too. Again, there are some wonderful landscapes, especially the beaches. I’m not a big fan of spiders or snakes so that might be a problem, but I’ll try to not let that put me off!

Other places I’d like to visit include South America, the Maldives and loads of places in Africa. I don’t know whether I’ll see them all, but it would be good to see at least some of them!

Does anyone really understand fashion? I know that I don’t. I also don’t really get the point of it. I can understand people wanting to look their best- that’s completely natural and everyone does it – but most of the time fashionable clothes seem to do the opposite. And I’m not just talking about the ridiculous clothes that you see in fashion shows, I’m talking about a lot of the latest trends.

For example, I’ve seen loads of people wearing their hats so that they are almost off the head. To me, that just looks stupid, but because it’s “fashionable” lots of people do it. In this case, fashion isn’t about looking good, it’s about showing that you are “hip”. What’s the point in that? Isn’t that whole point of fashion in the first place to try and look your best, or am I behind on that too?

Part of the problem is that I don’t care, at all, about fashion and whether something is fashionable or not. I think a lot of people are like me – I’ve never shown any interest in fashion. There must be a huge amount of people who do care though, judging by the large number of magazines on the topic.

The same goes for celebrities. Does anyone really care that Peter Andre has split up with Jordan etc etc? I know that it won’t affect my life in any way, but some people love to read about it all the time.

Music Channels

October 28th, 2010 — 8:34am

Do people still watch music channels? I remover when they first came out they were a bit of a novelty, but now they just seem to play lots of pop music with very similar videos. Music videos used to be considered an art – now they are so formulaic you can almost predict what’s going to happen next with most of them. I appreciate that this might partly be due to small budgets, but still, surely they could be a bit more creative.

I think part of the problem is that Freeview only has a very small range of music channels. In fact, I think it just has one at the moment, which means that there is never any choice. This channel is obviously a pop music channel, and continues to play rehashed, cover and unoriginal songs 24 hours a day. The only exception is when the channel switches to a low budget reality TV show.

I’m sure that some people must enjoy them – otherwise they wouldn’t still exist as no one would advertise on them – but it would be great if they showed real “music variety”, rather than just lots of different pop stars singing the same kind of music.

Anyway, that’s enough of a rant for me today. I’ve got to go work now unfortunately, but I’ll be posting some more articles in the near future if you want to check back. You could always subscribe to me RSS feed, and that will mean you get emails or an update in your reader whenever I write a new post.
